Painting Process
As part of the 2024 Sunny Dayz Mural Festival in Ponca City, OK, a public art initiative uplifting women and gender minority artists, I collaborated with artist Ayesha Rana to design and paint a large-scale mural at the entrance of The Alley (46' x 13').
Blending elements from our cultural backgrounds (Brazil and India) we created a bold, joyful, and energetic piece that speaks to identity, individuality, and creative freedom. My contribution featured Brazilian wildlife including the Surucucu snake, Arara Azul (blue macaw), Sagui monkey, and Onça Pintada (jaguar), rendered in my signature geometric and hard-edged style. Ayesha’s style, more fluid and rounded, introduced Indian-inspired forms and organic patterns. Together, our contrasting yet complementary approaches formed a unified visual language that celebrates self-expression across borders. The mural’s central message, “Be Wild, Be Bright,” invites viewers to embrace their unique vibrancy and voice.
