Camila Leão is a Baltimore-based artist working across fine art, murals, public art, and illustration. Her work is defined by vibrant color, graphic compositions, and a strong sense of movement, creating imagery that feels bold, immersive, and joyful.

Raised between the bustling streets of São Paulo and the lush landscapes of Brazil’s Atlantic Forest, Leão developed a deep connection to nature and movement—elements that continue to shape her visual approach. A musician and graphic designer, she brings rhythm, structure, and visual storytelling into her practice. Illustration sits at the core of her work, informing the visual language she creates and expands into painting and large-scale murals, while allowing each medium to maintain its own distinct character.

Leão has created murals and public artworks across the U.S., participated in festivals such as NoMa in Color and Sunny Dayz Mural Festival, and received a Baltimore County Executive Citation for her contributions to public art in 2024. Her work has been featured in Baltimore Magazine, and her paintings are held in private collections locally and internationally. Her practice also includes a home goods collection with Geometry House. Notable projects include a painted sculpture at Nationals Park stadium for the Washington Nationals’ Winter Park and a forthcoming collaboration with Lollapalooza Brasil.

Her approach is expansive and adaptable, allowing her to take on a wide range of projects.

Artist Journey & Inspiration

Artist Journey & Inspiration

Artist Journey & Inspiration

Before making Baltimore home, I spent years working alongside artists, musicians, and creative teams — experiences that shaped my work ethic, my collaborative spirit and visual language. Driven by imagination as much as observation, I reinterpret the world through an illustrative lens, drawing ideas from travel, environment, and everyday moments that quietly invite a second look.

Practice & Approach

Artist Journey & Inspiration

Artist Journey & Inspiration

My practice moves between murals, studio painting, and illustration, with each piece responding to its environment — architectural, cultural, or emotional. Collaboration is a meaningful part of how I work, balanced by a strong trust in visual instinct. I create imagery that is visually confident while remaining intentional and thoughtfully composed.

Public Art Focus

Public Art Focus

I’m drawn to the challenge of transforming everyday spaces into places people remember. Public art asks for awareness — of scale, history, and the people who move through a space daily. It is both a creative responsibility and a privilege, and contributing to a shared landscape remains one of the most rewarding parts of my practice.
